In a significant development, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed openness to restarting talks with U.S. President Donald Trump and signaled readiness to finalize a critical minerals deal with the United States.

This comes after Zelenskyy held discussions with over a dozen European leaders, including NATO chief Mark Rutte, who urged him to restore ties with the Trump administration. French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced their collaboration on drafting a Ukraine-Russia peace proposal. This follows a tense Oval Office meeting last Friday, where Trump reportedly considered halting future military and financial aid to Ukraine, according to White House officials. Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed that the U.S. has not communicated with Ukraine since Friday.

Meanwhile, a Kremlin spokesperson praised Trump’s skepticism of the global order, stating, ‘The new administration’s foreign policy aligns closely with our vision.’ NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte advised Zelenskyy to rebuild ties with Trump, saying, ‘You must find a way to restore your relationship with the American administration.’

Polish President Andrzej Duda echoed this sentiment, urging Zelenskyy to return to negotiations, emphasizing that only the U.S. can counter Russia’s aggression. As Trump prepares for a major address this week, expectations are high that he will address the Ukraine war.

However, his national security adviser expressed doubts about bringing Russia and Ukraine back to the table.
