‘Mahmoud Khalil Took Advantage…’: Leavitt Backs Deportation, Promises ‘More Arrests’ | ICE Amid growing outrage over the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, a Pro-Palestine student facing deportation under the Trump administration, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended the administration’s actions during a press conference.

When asked if a green card holder must be charged with a crime to be eligible for deportation, Leavitt responded, “Secretary Marco Rubio reserves the right to revoke the visa of Mahmoud Khalil. Under the US Immigration and Nationality Act, the Secretary of State can revoke a green card or visa for individuals who act against US foreign policy or national security interests.”

Another journalist questioned “the core of pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses and elsewhere, is a demand to end the war in Gaza, a goal that this administration actually supports and has pursued. So, why has this not been acknowledged or highlighted even.”. Leavitt replied, “These protests have spread Hamas propaganda. The flyers distributed call for violence and bear the logo of an organization that has held Americans hostage, murdered innocent babies, and killed men, women, and children.”

When pressed about Mahmoud Khalil’s claim that his arrest is the first of many, Leavitt stated, “I don’t have an estimate, but the Department of Homeland Security, under the Trump administration’s executive order, is acting on solid intelligence. Engaging in anti-American, anti-Semitic, or Pro-Palestine protests supporting Hamas will not be tolerated.”

The Trump administration’s tough stance on US Immigration and deportation has sparked debate, with supporters praising its focus on national security and critics questioning its impact on free speech.
